Live music can usually be heard Wednesday through Saturday nights. Clubs like Sahara and Unplugged have live rock n` roll bands, where new clubs like Kaos and Guru have Top 40 bands and the hottest DJs spinning. A cool pub to check out is the Londoner. This cozy place has a long bar, nice liquor selection and pool table. The fish and chips are said to be the best in the country.
Now if you just want to see how Old World meets New, then head down the Casco Viejo, the historic district. Here you find yourself drinking sangria in a building that dates back to the 17th Century, while listening to the latest jazz band at Las Bovedas . This place, once a jail, is now a weekend hot spot. Another hot spot to check out is Scena & Platea, which has great service and a good wine selection.
Another fun place to go is the Causeway. This is a road that takes you out to three islands just off the main land, in the Pacific Ocean. Here you will find more bars, clubs, outdoor cafes, restaurants and a hotel - all with spectacular views of the entrance to the ocean, the Canal, and the Bridge of the Americas. Most people locals and tourists alike - love to go there regularly and have a nice dinner, then take a romantic walk, the Panama city night skyline before you in twinkling wonder. Others have been known to party till dawn and watch the sun rise before heading home. Places like Cafe Barco are more for the over thirty crowd with golden oldies music, nice outdoor breezes, and a great menu selection. Whereas the Wine Bar, also to be found in the business district, has more than 300 wines to choose from and some great food.
As you can see, between the live bands, karaoke and the great prices - you can have a ton of fun for mere pennies on the dollar compared to places like Vegas, Miami, or New York.
